Reduces need for lime and gypsum
_____________________________________________

Fishers Creek Rock Dust is an effective 'liming agent'. It's micronutrients effectively increase the Ph (reduce acidity) in the soil. The chemistry behind this reaction describes how the Calcium and Magnesium elements enable the break in hydrogen bonds in the acidic molecule.

Traditionally, lime has been applied to reduce this acidity, however lime only reduces acidity temporarily and but for every kilogram of lime used 400g is emitted as carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

CaCo3 + 2H+ <-> Ca2+ + H20 + CO2(gas)

In the coming world of emissions trading and reduced carbon emissions, FCRD looms as an important substitute for lime, generating no CO2 emissions.

A product analysis was carried out between FCRD and lime. The results from this analysis can be found below:

This product analysis shows two things:

  1. The comparable ingredients required to reduce acidity
  2. The extra benefits added using FCRD over Lime
